Majathal Sanctuary is located on the Shimla Highway in the incredible Himachal Pradesh, India. The sanctuary has a wide area of 40 square kilometres. The place is blessed with natural enigmatic beauty with calm and soothing climate. The Majathal Sanctuary was established in the year 1974.
The main attraction of the Majathal Sanctuary is the bird Cheer Pheasant; the bird attracts major wildlife bird lovers from all over the India. The sanctuary is located in the western part of the Himalayan region, so the conditions for the survival and habitat for Cheer Pheasant are great.
The sanctuary rests at an altitude of about 2000 metres, providing a mind-blowing view of the valley. Other major wildlife forms here are Goral (wild goat with horns), Sambars, Himalayan Bear, Jungle Cats, Barking Sambar, Monkeys and Langurs etc. The flora and fauna of the Majathal Sanctuary are expressive. The area has a thick population of the valuable Pine trees. The adjacent forest is also habitat for the various life forms.
